How To Transform Doubt, Why You Must Reject Comfort, How To Harness Shower Thoughts, And A Quote on Comfort
Truth #1: Reject "Correct"
Mastering life changing decisions would be pretty awesome. So how do we make the correct choice in the hardest decisions of our lives?
What does correct even mean? The internet's first definition is, free from error. Life isn't a math problem, so we'll move on.
How about, "conforming to accepted social standards". Or the North American definition, "conforming to a particular political or ideological orthodoxy." And the example: "the materials used are as environmentally correct as possible." (LOL)
If correct means conforming, we have a bit a problem.
Many of the best decisions I've made or witnessed others make buck the status quo. They are "anti-correct".
Dropping out of school to move to Texas w/o friends or family wasn’t "correct".
Quitting a 6 figure sales job to start over dead broke isn’t "correct".
Ending a long relationship for internal reasons isn’t "correct".
Walking out on multi-million net worth future to start an online bookstore out of a garage wouldn't be "correct"
But these were all home run decisions.
Why are the correct decisions dangerous? What makes rejecting correct so difficult? And is it possible to master life changing decisions anyway? We'll dive into it in next week's edition. (credit to my friend Kyle for pointing out the flaws of "correct" decision making last week).
Truth #2: The Positive Power Of Doubt
How to transform doubt?
Let me explain - gym bro style.
You don't build strength and muscle mass from easy reps. Growth occurs when you've pushed to your limits. Under extreme duress, your muscles break down. But what happens as a result of that pain and stimulus? Your muscles grow. They become stronger. Your physique transforms. You become capable of lifting heavier weight!
Moments of doubt work the same way.
Doubt arises once we've reached the edge of our limits. And thus it's indicator that we are in a position to achieve real growth.
It’s easy when it's day 2 of cold calling or your new diet. But not so much when when you've been consistent for weeks and that voice in your head says, "It's ok. You deserve it. No one will know." For the devil approached Jesus on day 40 in the desert, not day 3.
These are the moments that matter. Fight on and the muscle of your will strengthens. You become capable of what you previously thought impossible.
Remember this. The moments of doubt are the moments that count.

How do you harness the power of shower thoughts?
How do you get your subconscious mind working in the background to help you reach your goals?

Quote I'm pondering:
Have you only comfort, and the lust for comfort, that stealthy thing that enters the house a guest, and then becomes a host, and then a master?
The lust for comfort murders the passion of the soul, and then walks grinning in the funeral.
